Lou's collaborations include memoirs, convention and graduation speeches, books of business wisdom, proposals for new enterprises. Clients include executives, entertainment figures, philanthropists, artists, patrons of the arts.

Interviewing, extrapolating, editing are the key processes. Interviews can have an agenda, or what seems like an informal occasion can yield key ideas, vignettes, phrases. An example of extrapolation: in less than 30 minutes a client sketched the key points and the inspiring public figures to be woven into a graduation speech. Then registering characteristic turns of phrase, moral stances, personality features gleaned from a few hours general conversation about other projects enabled Lou to produce a well-received university graduation speech. Editing involves not only working to enhance the style and structure of a clients' work, but also suggesting, writing, or collaborating on additional scenes, ideas, characterizations.

The objective is always to capture the clients' intentions, visions, observations—and to maximize fun and minimize strain!
